Sneaky thief Adul Saosongyang stole his roommates winning lottery ticket and was arrested while trying to cash it in.
The real ticket holder, a man from California had earlier been bragging to his friends believing he had won $10,000 from a $30 California Lottery Scratch ticket that he had bought from a local grocery store.
The winner became suspicious when he went along to the lottery’s district office in Sacramento and was told the ticket was worthless as it had been altered.
The police were informed and after viewing surveillance cameras at the Lucky Grocery Store where the ticket was bought it was concluded that the winners friend Adul Saosongyang was indeed the culprit.
The roommate had stolen the original winning ticket and replaced it with a similar one that had been altered to display the winning numbers.
Vacaville Police said that an investigation had “determined the roommate had purchased a similar Scratcher Lottery Ticket, altered it, and swapped it with the winning ticket.”
Adul Saosongyang now faces a charge of grand theft while the ticket, in fact, turned out to be worth $10 million.
