A $4.6 million lottery win replaces endless doctor's appointments and blood tests for an Oregan cancer survivor.
Having survived cancer twice, medical treatment has been a major part of life for some time for Stu MacDonald of Bend but the lucky winner can now plan a brighter future.
"I am a very lucky guy," winner Stu MacDonald of Bend said in a statement released by the Oregon Lottery on Friday. "I have survived cancer twice and here I am. This is amazing."
MacDonald won his fortune on Oregon's Game Megabucks on September 7th with winning numbers 12, 13, 16, 35, 36, and 45 selected with the quick pick option.
The win is also great news for Ashley's Café on Northeast 3rd Street in Bend who sold MacDonald the winning ticket as they pick up a 1-per cent selling bonus of $46,000.
"We are thrilled to learn that we sold a Megabucks jackpot," said Tezra Kong, Director of Operations for Ashley's. "We are excited for the team who sold the ticket.
A big congratulations to our guests on their windfall. Some of the seller's bonus will go back to the team that strive to delight our guests every day here at Ashley's in Wagner Mall."
MacDonald opted to receive all of the lottery winnings after taxes at one time, giving him immediate access to $1.56 million.
