Wisconsin Lottery officials are hoping the winner of a $5.9 million Megabucks ticket will come forward before July 15th.
On July 15th, 180 days will have passed since the draw took place so the prize will expire and the money will go back to the state to help with property tax relief.
Rose Whipple from the Wisconsin Lottery offices in Madison said: "I don't know if somebody accidentally threw it away or thought it wasn't a winner and tossed it, I feel sorry for them, they could have helped themselves, their family and a lot of people."
The winning ticket which was sold at the Kwik Trip on South Taylor Drive in Sheboygan refers to the draw made on January 16th. The winning Megabucks numbers drawn on that date were 1, 5, 28, 29, 37, and 44.
The eye-watering jackpot of $5.9 million is the largest Megabucks prize won since 2015. Lottery officials have their fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win.
