The Illinois Lottery is no stranger to paying out big cash prizes having created thousands of winners over the years. And this week was no exception with a massive $20,000 a week for 20 years payout to a lucky Chicago man.
Having played the Lucky Day Lotto for 18 years it was very thoughtful of the lucky winner's co-worker who persuaded him to purchase an instant ticket for the first time in his life. And he won at the $20m prize at the first attempt.
The winning ticket was bought from Plaza Food & Liquor, at 3459 W. Ogden Ave, the winner spent $20 on the ticket, which turned out to be the top prize, a winning 20x20 ticket.
"I plan to buy a house and start my own business," he told the Illinois Lottery. "This winning ticket is my chance at living the American dream."
There was an air of celebration in the store as well as the lucky retailer who sold the winning ticket received a bonus of $208,000.
